Camps and excursions are a great way to extend the education of students through practical experiences that relate to their curriculum.
Camps and excursions are carefully planned and managed to ensure that activities are safe for all students and staff, and parental permission is always sought.
Camps and sleepovers
School camps and sleepovers enhance the student's individual learning programs and assist them in developing their social, emotional, physical, recreational and independent living skills. Camps or sleepovers require students to be away from home for at least one night (some senior camps may be longer). Camps are usually conducted totally off-site, whereas sleepovers often involve the students sleeping on-site at Narbethong State School. Activities undertaken on the camp or sleepover will depend on the individual needs of the students. A detailed itinerary and list of planned activities will be provided to parents prior to the camp or sleepover.
Excursions
Excursions allow students to take part in curriculum-related activities outside the normal school routine. They often provide practical experiences to extend learning in a particular area; for example, a visit to a museum or city hall.
